Aliaxis

February 2011 - The Aliaxis Group, a global business (14.000 employees), specialised in plastic piping & sanitary systems has become a friend of Design Academy Eindhoven.
Rob Melk, responsible for Sanitary Systems within Aliaxis points out that harmonious design & eco-friendly solutions are becoming increasingly important for bathroom products like flushing systems, traps and shower drains.
In the next four years students from the department Man and Activity,
Design Academy Eindhoven will run projects along the theme the “bathroom of the future”. The first project initiated this year will be focussing on the toilet function within the total  “eco-system” of bathrooms in Europe. Functional Eco-solutions as water- and energy saving will have to go hand in hand with harmonious bathroom product designs providing maximum wellness to the user.

CATHARINA-hospital eindhoven

December 2010 - The coming four years students of Design Academy Eindhoven will collaborate with Hospital Catharina-Ziekenhuis. Philip Luschen is one of the students. His gruaduate project for the academy is dealing with the theme 'waiting'. He researched multiple locations in the hospital to observe how people expererience waiting. Philip will translate this proces into objects. These objects can be used by waiting people in the hospital and turn waiting into a pleasant experience.

Waterschap de Dommel

October 2010 - The district water board 'Waterschap De Dommel' became a ‘Friend of the Academy’. Martin Bouwman, the man behind the water board’s theme ‘Mooi water’ (the beauty of water), explains what has brought the academy and his organisation closer: “As a water board we enjoy working with parties who can shed new light on our activities. After all, if you keep doing as you were doing before, you will simply get what you were already getting! And we don’t think that is enough. We expect the academy students to be able to help us take the next steps.” How big these steps are, will become apparent in the spring of 2011 when students in ‘Man and Leisure’ start their research project for De Dommel.
