The Mine Kafon is a low-cost wind-powered mine detonator with the appearance of a giant, spiky-armed tumbleweed.

Massoud Hassani, graduated Man and Activity 2011 at our academy, has created The Mine Kafon. It is a prototype wind-propelled landmine destroyer which is able to map its own path and 'clear' it as safe to use. The device is based on a toy Hassani played with as a child when he was growing up in Afghanistan.

The project generated a lot of discussions. For instance, Hassani has been interviewed by the BBC and presented The Mine Kafon at TedXUtrecht. The conversations are ongoing and that is why Hassani does not want to leave this prototype for what it is now. With all the comments and design solutions he gets from the public, he wants to bring this project to a higher level. Next to that, he wants to bring The Mine Kafon to the actual minefields to release it there.

As Hassani stated in one of the interviews: "One less landmine means one saved life". If you agree, start to support this project. At the moment, they have been able to raise 70% of the campaign's goal, but it will only be successful when they will reach 100%. There are only nine days left!
