More information on the Requirements: Diploma, English and other selection criteria
- In order to be admitted you need a Dutch HAVO-, VWO- or MBO-4-diploma or international equivalent (senior general secondary education, pre-university education, or senior secondary vocational education).
- If you do not have the appropriate diploma, but you are 21 or over, you can still apply. In that case you must take and pass a HBO-test (the so-called 21+ test) to prove you are capable of working and thinking at the level that is required at a University of Applied Science (HBO). You must arrange this test yourselves; only after being admitted.
- Note for international students: Make sure to thoroughly check whether your diploma meets the above mentioned required Dutch standard. For checking diplomas and other information on requirements for studying in the Netherlands: see this Nuffic site www.studyinholland.nl and go to Study Options Admission Requirements.
Since education at Design Academy Eindhoven takes place in English, your English language skills must be sufficient enough (comparable to IELTS overall band score 6.0) to understand the teachings, to be able to communicate your ideas, present your work and have a dialogue about it. We will test your English communication skills in a practical, informal way; by listening to you and talking with you during the selection day. Candidates with insufficient English language skills cannot be accepted.
Only for candidates from China it is mandatory that they have a NESO certificate (which also contains an English language test like IELTS or TOEFL).
Besides diplomas and/or tests, the following aspects are important in the selection procedure: creativity, vision, visual skills, reflective skills and a research attitude. We are looking for candidates with an ‘open mind’, who approach problems in a playful way and with personal (social) engagement.
