Flying Type
"The challenge was to create a typography that would fly 10 meters above the ground. I had clear from the beginning that I wanted the letters to be shaped by the way they flied. Taking hot air balloons as a starting point, I developed the type with a thorough trial-error process in which the limitations of the material defined the characteristics of the letters. The result is a type that shows a close relationship between material, function and shape.”
