HR Employee

(16 hours a week)

Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE) is a leading educational institute in the field of Design. The various departments within the four-year higher vocational Bachelor programme and the two-year Master programme train students from different perspectives to produce critical and socially engaged designers. Besides the educational programmes, DAE has international research lectorates focussed on collaborative, interdisciplinary projects.

DAE sees design as a global phenomenon with an increasing urgency to reform social structures and systems. These include reforms in the fields of consumption, care, social organisation and future industries, but the list is inexhaustible. According to DAE, designers are responsible for exploring and finding alternatives.

DAE is home to about 700 students, from 40 different countries. The fact that many nationalities and cultures meet here, enriches our work area and contributes to the validity of the projects in a worldwide context. In addition to being a higher vocational education institute, DAE functions as an institute where there is room for debate. This interaction forms an important building block for both our curricula and our research agenda, and enables DAE to educate people who are capable of making meaningful contributions to social developments around the world.


As an HR employee you are an important part of our prestigious educational institute. After all, you are the person who will ensure support and advice regarding personnel issues. Almost all the people who teach at the Design Academy Eindhoven are themselves designers, and that makes the working atmosphere here so unique. Your work will be specifically in a small HR team that works intensively together under the auspices of the HR manager.

As a new HR employee, you take care of the administration both quickly and accurately. In our dynamic school it is also important that you are able to switch effortlessly and that you enjoy working with designers and other creatives. You are digitally skilled and able to communicate clearly in both Dutch and English. English is the main language within our international organisation.  

Your responsibilities within our HR administration will be wide ranging and varied: from entering and verifying data in the HR system (AFAS: Profit and Insite) to looking for or requesting missing data for colleagues. This could include ensuring the completeness of documentation according to the rules and filing, providing information and supporting freelancers or members of staff and assisting in the development of the personnel administration.


Job requirements:

•    You have completed a secretarial or administrative course to intermediate vocational education level 4;
•    You have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience;
•    You are proficient in working according to plans, monitoring processes and you enjoy working with international colleagues;
•    You are skilled in administration and think in terms of resolving problems;
•    You enjoy working in a dynamic organisation, so you are able to switch between various operational activities;
•    Working in a prestigious educational institute for design energizes you;
•    You are proficient in both spoken and written Dutch and English;
•    You have experience in working with an HR system; knowledge of AFAS (Profit and Insite) is an advantage.

Our offer

Design Academy Eindhoven offers a challenging position in an international and dynamic working environment. It concerns a position for 16 hours a week with the possibility of a temporary extension with 4 hours per week. Salary indication: within the band width of minimum € 1,947.68 and maximum € 2,717.13 gross a month in a fulltime position (scale 6). Employment terms in line with the cao-hbo, including holiday pay of 8% and an 8.3% year-end bonus. Initially, a year contract is offered, with an option for extension.
