Student Council
Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Council fosters a culture of ownership, accountability, and collective care. It supports student well-being by strengthening community, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.
More than a representative body, the Council turns ideas into action, initiating projects, events, and proposals that shape the Academy’s evolving culture. It is a laboratory where students test concepts, work across departments, and imagine new forms of learning and participation.
Have an idea that could transform student life? Want to design a workshop, organize a school-wide event, or prototype a new way of engaging the Academy? Contact student.council@designacademy.nl.
Students who serve for two years receive a €300 honorarium toward study materials.
PARTICIPATION
Institutional Participation Council (IPC)
A formal advisory body where students and staff jointly discuss and influence key institutional decisions. The IPC ensures that student perspectives are represented at the highest level of DAE governance.
Bachelor and Master Course Committees (BCC / MCC)
These committees focus on the quality of education and learning experience within each program. They provide structured feedback to department heads and act as a bridge between students and staff.
Student Council (SC)
A school-wide platform for all students (BA and MA) to initiate projects, share ideas, and collaborate with the IPC, BCC, and MCC. The SC connects informal student initiatives with formal representation structures.
LECTURE COMMITTEE
The Lecture Committee is an independent student initiative at DAE. It is student-led and functions as a platform for experimenting with formats, inviting diverse voices, and engaging the design community in public dialogue. While not part of the Student Council, it shares similar values of collaboration and collective exploration.
