Professorships
Professorships are 'research groups' within a specific research area led by a professor. Within professorships, attention is paid to studying the research area and sharing knowledge, but they also engage with more informal aspects of research, such as material research, improvisation and experimentation; methods with a history within the Academy, closer to the design practice.
There are currently two active professorships at DAE: ‘Transdisciplinary Design Networks’ led by Dr Ian Biscoe and ‘Design and Social Innovation’ led by Naomi Bueno de Mesquita.
Dr Ian Biscoe investigates the current challenge of system-of-system development. He realises tools and methods that facilitate collaboration, regardless of location.
Dr Naomi Bueno de Mesquita explores the social side of transition challenges by partnering with public institutions and local stakeholders.
