How to report an incident or a concern at Design Academy Eindhoven

In these days, the Netherlands is holding a national debate about sexism, racism and harassment in its institutions devoted to the arts. As one such institution, the Design Academy must face up to this reckoning too. We are aware of allegations of misconduct that have been made, and take them extremely seriously. All allegations will be investigated.

Reporting an Incident or concern

We’d like to remind all of the DAE Community about some of the regulations around reporting incidents or concerns, the code of conduct and what to do in case of an emergency. It is vitally important to all of us here at DAE that we create an environment in which everyone feels safe and free to report any incidents or concerns confidentially.

Creating a safe and inclusive environment together

-Payroll educational and organisational staff-

Creating a safe and inclusive environment for all staff and students is for all of us a top priority. We expect everyone to take responsibility for their actions and work together professionally and respectfully. We’re a learning organisation, therefore we value transparency. Therefore, we will also share a survey later this month to investigate the status.

We would like to make sure everyone knows what resources are available and where to find them. Educational and organisational staff should report mistakes, oversights, misunderstandings, or incidents to their line manager. If that is not possible or if you are unsure of how to proceed with a negative experience at DAE or need a confidential, external listening ear, you can always set up an appointment with one of the confidential counsellors.

Code of Conduct

The DAE Code of Conduct provides clarity on what is and what is not allowed at DAE and how to address or report issues. If you have experienced or witnessed undesirable behaviour the code of conduct can provide insight - the relevant steps to reporting are as following:

  • If you are unsure of how to proceed with a negative experience at DAE or need a confidential, external listening ear, you can always set up an appointment with one of the confidential counsellors.
  • For any other issues or conflicts that are not described in the Code of Conduct, your direct manager is always the first person to contact. If they are unavailable or if for other reasons you do not feel comfortable in contacting them, you can always contact the confidential counsellors, or HR for employment related issues.

-        The coordinators can offer assistance with practical issues regarding education.

-        The Student Counsellors (Mona and Olga) are always happy to listen and offer advice to find solutions for personal issues and special circumstances. You can also find external sources for support on the page.

-        The confidential counsellors are also available for students looking for support with potential code of conduct violations.

-        If you receive questions from students regarding potential code of conduct issues that you don’t know or can’t address, you can always check in with your coordinator, manager, or the student counsellors.
