Objectified
In a world where bodies are objectified, Lilas Patard sets out to humanise objects. Inspired by fashion, she creates the first in a series of armchairs that blur the line between human and furniture, evoking bodily presence through tension and form. The chair combines a welded steel frame with soft latex foam, forming rounded shapes reminiscent of the human body. It is dressed in a textile designed by Lilas at the TextielMuseum, knitted in eight parts to fit the chair precisely. Pleats in the pattern create zones of tightness and openness, allowing the fabric to stretch, expand into volume and reveal a second colour as it hugs the form. By weaving together anthropomorphism and feminine references, ‘Objectified’ invites empathy and intimacy toward the objects we live with.
