LE LABO 1.0

Philippe Gaud

This proposal reimagines the consumption of goods by making industrial processes transparent, local, and adaptable. At its core is a wax-based lighting system in which each object is conceived not as a final product but as material in motion — fully remouldable thanks to its 100 per cent natural wax composition. Using a rotational casting technique borrowed from the plastics industry, each lamp is made on-site in under 45 minutes, with customers witnessing the process. Designed for reshaping through local micro-production points, the lamp becomes a changing product inviting a more sustainable, ongoing relationship with objects. All lamps share the same weight for waste-free remelting, while the stainless steel base can be reused in other objects after dismantling. 'LE LABO 1.0' explores an ecosystem of objects where every stage of the material life cycle is carefully considered to eliminate all waste, while also imagining what a transparent, local production space could be.
