Sean Schwerdtfeger’s project explores the potential of discarded materials, guided by the idea behind the prefix ‘re’, meaning to repeat, remake or renew. Over years living in Eindhoven, he discovered places rich in forgotten objects: scrapyards, street corners, skips, second-hand shops, and even the Design Academy itself. The designer collects materials like rain-soaked wood, tarnished brass and broken glass, then transforms them through processes inspired by jewellery-making. By applying precision, care and craft, he elevates what was once waste and raises it from the bin to the centre of a room, reimagined and illuminated. His goal is not just to rearrange scraps, but to reveal the hidden value within them, offering each piece a second life as something precious and worthy of attention.
