The Trashifesto

Noam Hasak-Lowy

The Trash Club was formed by a group of design students who want to dispel the illusion that there was a place of 'Away,' which all our things were thrown to. A series of theatre performances, 'The Trashifesto' brings the audience into the dynamic world of waste. As the playwright of 'The Trashifesto,' Noam Hasak-Lowy challenges how we think about trash, moving beyond the usual responses of delusional denial or guilt paralysis. The project playfully explores the history of humans' relationship to trash and consumerism through characters and stories. Taking spectators on an imaginative tour through landfills, contaminated forests and plastic-filled waters, each iteration of 'The Trashifesto' takes us to 'Away', the place where all our trash ends up and which has been kept out of our sight for too long.
The Trash Club is: Rosetta Penna (puppets), Catrine Faurby (costume), Adèle Visser (scenography) and Noam Hasak-Lowy (script), Hyjunoo Lee (graphic design), Erle Hobbs (performance), Chantal Kluitman (CEO of Screenprinting), Elie Seksig (Acorn Executive), and Tabby Flynn (production).
