We never named them until it was sure they would survive.

Christoph Wimmer-Ruelland

Following environmental collapse, the global shutdown of mass production in 2068 marks a societal turning point, where manufactured abundance gives way to scarcity. Survivalists, aiming to ensure the continuation of capitalist consumption, have reimagined how products are made, adopting the maxim ‘form follows fluid function’. By deliberately ignoring an object’s original function and meaning, it becomes a module — adaptable and open-ended. These modules are assembled into monochromatic, chimeric structures using roping techniques that allow for disassembly and reconfiguration. Components can be returned to their original use or repurposed for use in different arrangements. Presented in a bunker-showroom, the speculative design project reflects on the evolving relationship between human needs and systems of consumption, past, present, and future.
