New BA Studio Announced: Melting Realities

Roel Wouters has joined DAE to lead a new studio as part of our Bachelor programme.

From 1 September 2026, Studio Melting Realities joined our Bachelor's Studios Programme, inviting students to look into the relationships between digital and physical worlds, to observe where realities merge, where they fracture, seduce or might cause harm. Questioning the interfaces, rituals, images, tools and platforms that shape our experiences, students will be challenged to recognise their own positions and reflect on processes of transformation.

Roel Wouters is a director, designer and educator working across film, interactive installations, performance and immersive experiments. Roel has gained experience teaching at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, the Sandberg Institute, Yale University School of Art and ECAL Switserland. His work has been exhibited at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the British Film Institute, Sundance Film Festival and M+ Museum in Hong Kong. Roel has obtained a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design at the Sandberg Institute, and leads a studio based in Amsterdam.

A very warm welcome to Roel, we are delighted to have him join us and look forward to a fruitful collaboration.
